Sra. Maria & Sra. Sofia

Sra. Maria
¡Hola!  My name is Mary Miller.  I have two great passions in life: teaching children and speaking Spanish.  I am thrilled to have the opportunity to combine the two as your Little Spanish Playschool maestra!
I have taught for seven years, both at private and public schools,.  I currently teach Spanish to grades kindergarten-6th grade at Greenwood Laboratory School.  I have taught elementary school, preschool Spanish, middle school Spanish, and high school Spanish.

I attended Rhodes College, where I earned my bachelor's degree in English Literature with a minor in Spanish.  Later, I earned my master's degree in Elementary Education at Drury University.

One of the most rewarding experiences of my life was the year I spent volunteering as an Americorps VISTA at a Latino community center in Columbia, MO.  I served as the education director at Centro Latino de Salud, Educacion, y Cultura.  I loved helping students bridge the language and cultural divide in their lives, and empowering both children and adults to succeed through education.

I am married to my wonderfully supportive husband, Mike.  We have a four year old son and a one year old daughter, who keep us incredibly busy and completely entertained.

Sra. Sofia
¡Hola! My name is Sofia Sanders.  I was born and raised in Ecuador, where I lived until recently.  My native language is Spanish, and I’m excited to share Spanish with you!

I am married to my sweet, wonderful husband Jeff.  I am a stay at home mom of four happy and active boys.  I live in Ozark, where I moved once I met and married Jeff.

As a student, I studied abroad here in the United States.  I loved learning about the American culture, learning English, and making unforgettable memories with new friends.  I attended la Universidad Tecnologica Equinoccial de Quito, Ecuador, where I received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration in Tourism.  I worked in tourism for many years, even opening my own company with my sister.  Running our business, Inca Holidays, with my sister has been one of the greatest joys of my life.

My sister and I also opened a business called De ArribAbajo, in which we planned and hosted birthday parties for children.  I found that working with children gives me joy and happiness.  I have loved being a stay at home mom to four boys... busy, busy, busy!

Now I am excited to begin my newest adventure: sharing my knowledge and love of Spanish with you and your child!
